Golf Cart Possibly To Blame For Cecil County Blaze: Fire Marshal

A fire that started in the area of a parked golf cart in Cecil County caused nearly $200,000 in damage on Thursday morning for an Earlville family.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 1, first responders from the Cecilton Volunteer Fire Company and other agencies were called to a home on Circle Drive, where they were met by a fully-involved fire with flames showing throughout the residence.

According to the Office of the Maryland Fire Marshal, it took a team of approximately 40 firefighters 90 minutes to get the flames under control.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators say that the fire originated in the area of a golf cart in an attached carport, though the cause remains under investigation later on Thursday morning.
